NCTS Race #02 – Hawkeye 50K/25K

The 2nd race in the 2018 No Coast Trail Series took place over the weekend at the Hawkeye 50K/25K and WHEW! Nothing says crazy Iowa weather like what runners were greeted with on Saturday! Cold temps, relentless wind & rain and a nice dose of mud made for an extremely challenging but equally rewarding day! Many hearty runners stuck it out though and finished what they started for some impressive displays of grit!

Congratulations to No Coast runners Ross Salinas (50K), Bryan Powers (50K), Danielle Wangsness (50K), Ben Hansen (25K) ((sidenote: Ben’s 12 years old!)), Aimee Jones (25K), Jen Even (50K) and Dave Stock (50K) for their top performances and a special congrats to everyone who ran their first ultra at Hawkeye this weekend! Way to go!!!

We get a short break from No Coast racing this next month and resume again at the Sunderbruch B&B Trail Races in Davenport on May 19th and the Booneville Backroads Ultra south of Des Moines on May 26th!

NCTS Race #01 – Red Shamrock Survivorship Trail Challenge

An abnormally cold “spring” morning greeted No Coast runners at this past weekend’s Red Shamrock Foundation Survivorship Trail Challenge but that didn’t deter runners from quickly hitting the trails and having a blast on a fun & challenging course all while supporting a great cause! Thankfully the wind held off and the sun was shining bright to make for what turned out to be quite the pleasant day on the No Coast!
Congratulations to all the race winners including No Coast regular Ross Salinas taking home 1st overall as well as No Coast runners Melissa Barnard, Kelly Teeselink, Adam Galluzzo, Debby Hildebrand, Nancy Mark and Bryan Powers all winning their respective divisions!

A huge thanks and congratulations to Red Shamrock Foundation for putting on an awesome event and being such a strong supporter of racing dirt on the No Coast!

Next up, this weekend’s Hawkeye 50K/25K!
